For a lot of us, fat burners seem to be the answer to all our prayers. But after further analysis, the active ingredients found in fat burner pills are sketchy at best. The most common ingredients found in these supplements are Chitosan, Ephedra, Pyruvate, and Hydroxycitrate, and ALL have been proven to either not work or produce serious adverse reactions like heart attacks, seizures, strokes, and death.
The problem with Chitosan is that it binds to vitamins A, D, E, and K which inhibits their absorption into the body. While there are ways to solve that problem and help improve vitamin uptake, most experts agree that when it comes to fat burning, Chitosan simply doesn’t work.
Ephedrine is a very powerful compound used in fat burning supplements and is known for its amphetamine-like effects which increase heart rate and stimulate the nervous system. Ever since its recent appearance in the western world, there have been hundreds of cases of adverse effects in people using Ephedrine-based products. High blood pressure, insomnia, seizures, strokes, and even death have all occurred with Ephedrine use, and the FDA has put strict regulations in place as a result.
This ingredient is supposed to increase weight loss, improve stamina, and even lower cholesterol. However, there are such small amounts of Pyruvate in consumer supplements that none of the research conducted has been able to back up these claims. Like Chitosan, this ingredient can’t walk the walk either.
HCA is another substance found in fat burner pills that fails to produce any research backing up its claims. HCA is supposed to decrease your appetite while inhibiting the ATP citrate lyase enzyme from turning excess sugar into fat. However, a study conducted by The Medical Journal of Australia found Hydroycitrate to be unsuccessful for weight loss.
Weight Loss Solution
All in all, these so-called magic fat burner compounds are a lot of hype with little of sometimes harmful results. A safe and natural alternative for weight loss is colon cleansing, which flushes out toxins and waste that accumulates in the colon and stomach region. Digestive cleansing supplements come highly recommended by health experts because of their all-natural ingredients, including probiotics, antioxidants and fiber-rich herbs.
